Influencer marketing in Pakistan: a creator filming a beauty tutorial

Influencer marketing works when the creator’s audience matches your buyer, the content feels honest, and every collaboration is tracked to real orders.

Follower count is the weakest way to choose a creator. Look at engagement, comments and who the audience really is

Several micro creators often bring more trust and orders than one big name for the same budget

UGC (user-generated content) is content you pay creators to make for your own ads, not necessarily for their page

A clear one-page brief and written agreement prevent most problems

Track every creator with a unique discount code or link, and judge by orders, not views
Short answer: In Pakistan, influencer marketing is one of the fastest ways for a new brand to earn trust. People buy from people they follow. But the results depend almost entirely on choosing the right creators, giving them freedom inside a clear brief, and tracking sales properly.

Marksol works with a network of more than a thousand Pakistani creators across fashion, beauty, food, parenting, tech and lifestyle. This guide shares what we have learned about making creator campaigns actually sell.

Influencer marketing vs UGC: what is the difference?

These two are often mixed up, but they do different jobs:

Influencer postsUGC content
What it isThe creator posts about your product on their own pageThe creator makes videos or photos for you to use in your own ads and pages
Main benefitReach and trust from their audienceAuthentic-looking content for ads that sell
Follower count matters?Yes, the audience is part of what you pay forLess. You pay for the content and the face
Best forLaunches, awareness, social proofMeta and TikTok ads, product pages

The strongest campaigns use both: creators post to their audience, and you also get the rights to run their content as ads.

Micro, mid-tier or celebrity?

Creator sizeTypical strengthBest use
Nano and micro (small but engaged audiences)High trust, close community, affordableProduct reviews, local and niche audiences, UGC
Mid-tierGood balance of reach and engagementLaunches and seasonal campaigns
Macro and celebrityBig reach and fameBrand awareness, big launches with a strong budget

For most growing Pakistani brands, a group of micro and mid-tier creators gives the best return. Ten honest reviews from creators whose followers trust them often beat one expensive celebrity post.

How to choose the right creators

Ignore the follower count at first. Check these instead:

Audience match: are their followers the people who buy your product, in age, gender, city and income?
Real engagement: read the comments. Real comments ask questions and mention details. Fake ones are just emojis and "nice".
Consistency: do their recent posts get steady views, or one viral video and nothing since?
Content quality: can they show a product clearly and talk naturally on camera?
Brand fit: would your buyer trust this person? Check past collaborations and anything controversial.
Ask for screenshots of their audience insights, such as top cities, age and gender.

Spotting fake followers

Huge follower count but very few likes and comments.
Sudden jumps in followers with no viral content to explain them.
Comments that are generic and repeated across posts.
Audience mostly outside Pakistan for a creator who posts about local products.

Writing a brief that creators actually follow

A good brief fits on one page. It tells the creator what must be included, and leaves them free to say it their own way.

About the product: what it is, who it is for and the one main benefit.
Must-show moments: for example, opening the parcel, the fabric close-up, wearing it outside.
Key message: one or two points, not a script.
Do not say: claims you cannot prove, competitor names, wrong prices.
Call to action: the discount code, link or WhatsApp number.
Format and deadline: reel or story, length, posting date and time.
Approval step: whether you want to see the video before it goes live.

The best creator content sounds like the creator, not like your brand. Give direction, not a script.

Agreeing a fair deal

Put everything in writing, even for small creators. Your agreement should cover:

Deliverables: how many posts, reels and stories, and on which platforms.
Fee or product exchange, and when payment is made.
Usage rights: whether you can run their content as ads, and for how long.
Spark Ads or partnership ads access, if you plan to boost the post.
Clear labelling of paid content, such as "paid partnership" or "#ad".
What happens if the post is late or removed.

How to measure results

Views and likes are easy to collect but do not tell you if the money was well spent. Track each creator separately:

A unique discount code for each creator, such as AYESHA10.
A unique link with tracking parameters, so visits and orders show up in your analytics.
Orders and revenue from each code or link, checked in Shopify.
Cost per order: creator fee divided by the orders they brought.
Content value: if their video becomes a winning ad, that creator was worth far more than their direct sales.

A simple first campaign

Pick one product with clear visual appeal.
Shortlist 15 micro creators whose audience matches your buyers, and work with 5 to 8 of them.
Send products with a one-page brief and a written agreement.
Give each creator a unique code and link.
After two weeks, compare orders and content quality.
Run the best videos as ads and rebook the creators who delivered.

Frequently asked questions

Rates vary widely by audience size, engagement, niche and what you ask for. Micro creators may work for product exchange or modest fees, while celebrities charge much more. Always compare the fee with the orders and content you expect in return.

They work best together. Creators build trust and give you authentic content, and ads let you show that content to many more people in a controlled, measurable way.

UGC means user-generated content. For brands, it usually means paying creators to make natural-looking photos and videos that you use in your own ads and product pages.

Look for low engagement compared with follower count, generic repeated comments, sudden follower jumps and an audience mostly outside Pakistan. Ask for audience insight screenshots.

Give each creator a unique discount code and a unique link, then check orders and revenue for each code in Shopify.
