Shopify CRO in Pakistan: Turn Visitors Into Orders

Most Pakistani stores do not have a traffic problem. They have a conversion problem. This guide shows where buyers drop off and the fixes that turn more of them into orders.

Shopify CRO in Pakistan: a shopper completing checkout on an online store

Conversion rate optimization (CRO) means getting more orders from the visitors you already have. For a Pakistani Shopify store, small changes to trust, product pages and the COD checkout often do more than doubling the ad budget.

Conversion rate is simple: orders divided by store visits. If 1,000 people visit and 15 order, your rate is 1.5%

Pakistani buyers drop off for three reasons: they do not trust the store, they cannot find the answer they need, or checkout feels hard

Fix the product page first. It is where most buying decisions are made, especially on mobile

Make cash on delivery, delivery time and the return policy visible before checkout, not after

Change one thing at a time and measure it for at least two weeks before you judge it
Short answer: Shopify CRO in Pakistan is about removing doubt. Your visitor is asking “Is this store real? Is this product what I see? Can I pay when it arrives? Can I return it?” Every second they cannot find those answers, the chance of an order drops. Answer them faster, on a phone, and your conversion rate goes up.

At Marksol we review Pakistani Shopify stores every week as part of our free audits. The same few problems appear again and again. This guide walks through them in the order we fix them, with the reasons behind each change.

What conversion rate means, in plain words

Your conversion rate is the share of store visits that end in an order. Shopify shows it on your dashboard as “conversion rate”. If your store had 2,000 sessions this month and 30 orders, your conversion rate is 1.5%.

Why does this number matter so much? Because it multiplies everything else. If you double your conversion rate, every rupee you spend on ads brings in twice the orders. That is why we fix conversion before we scale ads.

Monthly visitsConversion rateOrdersWhat changes
5,0000.8%40Starting point
5,0001.2%6050% more orders, same ad spend
5,0001.8%90More than double, same ad spend

The visits stayed the same in every row. Only the store improved.

Where Pakistani shoppers drop off

Before changing anything, find out where people leave. Shopify’s analytics shows a simple funnel: sessions, added to cart, reached checkout and completed orders. Read it like this:

Few people add to cart: the product page is not convincing. Photos, price, sizing or trust are the problem.
Many add to cart but few reach checkout: something in the cart surprises them, usually delivery charges or delivery time.
Many reach checkout but few complete it: the checkout form is too long, COD is unclear, or the phone number field causes trouble.

Each stage has different fixes. Fixing the wrong stage wastes time, so always look at the funnel first.

Fix 1: Pass the five-second trust test

Open your store on a phone and show it to someone who has never seen it. Give them five seconds, then ask: “Would you order from this store with cash on delivery?” If they hesitate, you have a trust problem. These elements fix most of it:

A clear brand name and logo at the top, not a generic theme header.
Real product photos, not supplier pictures that buyers have seen on ten other pages.
A short line under the header such as "Cash on delivery all over Pakistan, delivery in 3 to 5 working days".
Reviews with real names and cities, ideally with customer photos.
A visible WhatsApp button, because many buyers want to ask one question before ordering.
Policy pages that are actually filled in: delivery, exchange and returns, privacy and contact details with a real address.

Fix 2: Build product pages that answer every question

The product page is where the buying decision happens. On a phone, the buyer scrolls once or twice and decides. Put the answers in this order:

Photos first. Show the product from several angles, on a person if it is clothing, and one close-up of the fabric or texture.
Price and any saving. If there is a discount, show the original and the new price clearly.
Size or variant selection that is easy to tap, with a size chart one tap away.
The add to cart button visible without scrolling too far.
Delivery and payment line right under the button: COD available, delivery time, exchange policy.
Short description in plain language. What it is, what it is made of, who it is for and how to care for it.
Reviews and questions below, so the doubtful buyer can scroll for proof.

A common mistake is writing long descriptions copied from the supplier. Buyers do not read them, and Google sees them as duplicate content. Write a short, honest description in your own words.

Fix 3: Make COD checkout feel easy and safe

Most orders in Pakistan are still cash on delivery. The checkout should feel like confirming a phone order, not filling a government form.

Show COD as the first payment option if most of your buyers use it.
Keep the form short. Name, phone, city and address are usually enough. Remove optional fields you never use.
Accept phone numbers in the way people type them, with or without 0 or +92.
Show the delivery charge early, on the product page or in the cart. A surprise charge at the last step is one of the biggest reasons for drop-off.
Send an order confirmation on WhatsApp or SMS right after the order. It reassures the buyer and reduces fake orders.

Fix 4: Speed and mobile

Most Pakistani shoppers arrive on a phone, often on mobile data. A slow store loses them before the first photo loads.

Compress images before uploading. A product photo rarely needs to be more than a few hundred kilobytes.
Remove apps you do not use. Every app can add scripts that slow the store down.
Avoid heavy sliders and auto-playing videos on the home page.
Test on a real mid-range Android phone, not only on your laptop.

Speed is not about a perfect score on a testing tool. It is about the first screen loading quickly enough that the buyer does not press back.

Fix 5: Offers that raise order value

CRO is not only about more orders. It is also about more value per order. A few offers work especially well in Pakistan:

Bundles and combos: "Buy the 3-piece set and save" usually beats a single discount.
Free delivery above a set amount: set it a little above your current average order value.
"Complete the look" suggestions on clothing and beauty products.
Gift wrapping or a small free gift during Eid and wedding seasons.

How to test changes properly

The biggest CRO mistake is changing five things in one day and then guessing which one worked. Follow a simple routine instead:

Write down your current conversion rate, add to cart rate and average order value.
Change one thing, for example moving the COD and delivery line under the add to cart button.
Wait at least two weeks, or until you have a meaningful number of orders, before judging.
Compare the numbers. Keep the change if it helped, undo it if it did not.
Move to the next change on your list.

Remember that seasons affect results. A change made just before Eid will look better than it really is. Compare like with like.

Frequently asked questions

It depends on the product, price and traffic source. Many stores we audit start below 1%. Getting above 1.5% to 2% is a strong result for a new brand, and stores with loyal repeat buyers can go higher.

CRO stands for conversion rate optimization. It means improving your store so that a bigger share of visitors place an order.

Yes. Ads bring visitors, but the store turns them into orders. If the store converts poorly, more ad spend only brings more people who leave without buying.

In our experience it usually helps in Pakistan, because many buyers want to ask a quick question about size, colour or delivery before they order. Make sure someone actually replies quickly.

Simple fixes such as showing delivery charges early or adding real photos can show a change within a few weeks. Always measure for at least two weeks before deciding whether a change worked.
